Hi All,

Currently ongoing with my extension and got a slight problem with the wall plate height and lintel height.

The wall plate is about 30mm lower than the top of the lintel... I cant raise the wall plate anymore as it affects the soil stack on the back wall.

Will it be ok to notch the joists to sit on the lintel? The roof joists are 175x47

How come the lintel over the other opening is OK? Why are they different lintels?

It doesn't look to me like there is enough composite masonry above that window lintel. What the fudge is going on there? Regardless, it seems your soil stack will need to be altered, because the structural positioning of the wall plate, demands it. Should be at least 120mm higher.

I'm guessing the roof pitch is very shallow?

It is the correct lintel. As per the structural drawings.

It’s a flat roof, if it goes any higher it will cover the soil outlet from the existing house.

What’s the reason for 120mm higher?

Thanks

Has your architect never heard of a half height lintel?

You are probably going to need 40mm of PIR and 9.5mm of plasterboard under the rafters. Its not going to fit? It seems like a massive lintel for such a small opening?

Also warm roof construction so insulation above the joists
