Washing machine fills with sink waste

Hi I have recently fitted a new washing machine, all working fine until yesterday I noticed water flowing out of the front door. The waste from the sink was filling the washing machine. I did not have this problem with the previous machine, and no parts have been changed, The new drainage pipe is lower, than the previous one could this make a difference? Thanks
