We are looking at getting a new kitchen and need to have a small play around with the current layout. At the moment we have a gas hob with a cupboard underneath, next to which we have a washing machine, which is the end of the run of units.

We would like to fit the rounded type cupboards on the end units but this would not be possible due to the washing machine being on the end. So the only other place to put the washing machine would be underneath the gas hob.

Initially we are assuming that this wouldn't be possible for one safety reason or another, possibly the vibration of the washing machine or the proximity of the water, but having googled we can't find this anywhere.

So can anyone let us know if this is a definite no - no please.

Thanks

usually space doesn't allow this to fit or give the required clearances

If it fits under then there is no problem.
Do it, you know you want to ;)

We used to have exactly that arrangement The (then CORGI) installer who fitted the hob had never been asked to do that before. He thought twice about it, checked his books, rang for advice, then did the job......

......But the gas pipe to the hob fouled the free standing machine when we slotted it in the gap  .....

.....A little 'surgery' with a jigsaw to the overhanging back section of the top of the machine opened up the clearance enough for the machine to rock 'n roll without tearing the gas pipe off the wall

Thanks for the replies!

Will have a good look at all the pipes etc to see if it's possible (hadn't actually thought about the room for the pipes  )

Thanks again

Make sure it allows this in the M.I.s as they are all different, if in doubt get installer to phone their tech department. Do you know the make and model of the hob yet ?
