Waste for Milano Nero shower Tray

Hi, hope this isn't a stupid question. I have the Milano Nero - Corner Walk-In Shower Enclosure with Tray.

The tray has what looks like the same waste as in this link:

I have highlighted in yellow the part G which sits in the shower tray, like a cup before you put the main plug part on.

Does the part G have to be inserted, or can it be left out if you choose?
I was wondering if this only acts to collect anything big / hard that falls down the drain, so it gets collected in part G, rather than going right down the drain?

The only reason I ask is, I did give it a go with it removed and felt that the flow was far better, so thought I would ask if it needs to be inserted or not before just assuming I can leave it off?

It looks the same as ours and the thing that restricts the flow is hair building up around part F rather than part G so it still has to be cleaned regularly
