I am fitting a new kitchen and a sink as part of this.

Here is the old waste pipe:

Is a telescopic P Trap the most versatile in this situation? Something like this perhaps?

Also, with the sink waste, should I use silicone on the underside of this? Smeared around the rubber washer?

Thanks in advance.

Possibly, you'll get a better idea of what is required once the sink and waste/overflow are fitted.

Some advise it but I never use it, especially on smooth stainless steel.

You may find that once the sink is in then that outflow pipe may be very close to being below the level of the sink waste. If that's the case then the appliance spigot may drop it even lower. As Denso mentions, see where it all sits when the sink and it's waste is fitted. Just remember water won't flow well up hills.

Also agree, no need for silicone on the large sink waste washer, in fact sometimes it can allow the washer to be squeezed out when tightening, creating a leak.

Sorry that meant to read "the outflow pipe in the wall could end up being above the level of the waste pipe from the trap"
