With my upcoming kitchen tart up. I have a spare space where a corner cabinet used to be and I was thinking of the possibility of fitting a water filter softener or whatever where the mains come in to do the whole house. Any suggestions? Benefits? Problems? I don’t want to have to maintain it every other week. Will the water still be drinkable etc? Anyone on here got one? Suggestions and advice welcome.

Before you fit anything to your water supply, you should read the annual report on the water in your area as, whatever it is that concerns you, might not be evident in your water.
Annual reports will be online, it's the law, your water undertaker must provide it.
