Hello,

We have just moved into a new flat which has gas cental heating which works fine. But we cannot get the water to heat via the gas we have to use the emersion. The controls light up but we do not hear the boiler kick in like we do with the central heating. Had a poke around the storage heater there is 2 boxes with the words actuator on them which are set on A but there is a slider to move to B. Dunno if that has anything to do with it.
Wonder if there is a simple explaination as the boiler is working for the central heating to work. We had it serviced before we moved in and were told everything was ok.

Any help would be appriciated.

Some pictures (not great I know)

Hi

Looks like both heating and water are in off position on programmer.
Lower flap at bottom of programmer and push hot water SET button till the indicator mark lines up with on.

have a look at the small white box near the bottom of the cylinder, does the arrow (or notch) line up with the 60 mark ?

you say the controls are lighting up when the programmer is on.
check the cylinder stat is turned up
if stat ok check you are getting 230v on the brown wire to the zone valve.
if 230v present on brown but not on orange and the A,B marker is still on A then sounds like you have a motor failure.

check the motor in the actuator.
