Hi All,
I was thinking about adding a lean-to the to rear of the house before selling it, the wall is rendered and finish with stones (pebble dashed).

I was wondering if it would be best to chisel off the render where the roof connects to the wall and whether or not this would help weather proof the lend-to, or will I face more/similar problems regardless.

If so, what would be the best way to tackle this.

Thanks for reading :)

I'd suggest not doing it at all if you are moving as it is unlikely to add any value.

i tend to agree with Colin.

if you do decide to build a lean-to then you are best removing all pebbledash render, from the lead chase and below.

once you have decided upon the roof pitch, angle grind a straight cut at the point where the lead will chase into the brickwork. then jack hammer off all the rendering below this cut.

you will be able to create a rendered drip using a bell bead, that will weather the render-lead join, later on.

Thanks for the replies,

Sorry, by "lean-to" I meant a lean-to conservatory, although I'm not really looking at it from a profit point of view right now, I'd be happy to just gain some hands on experience (without screawing it up and making a loss :)).

I thought taking the render off might be the best option,
Thanks again.
