water valve kit + service quote, for potterton boiler

The hot water is not coming on, but the heating works fine. local boiler company have come & quoted that the 'water valve kit' needs changing, i will also be getting the boiler serviced at the same time. Boiler is a potterton performa 28.
They have quoted £160, supplied & fitted all in, is this a fair price?

Fair price, provided they do the job properly. Make sure you check the chap that does it is GSR registered. You can check it on the web if need be, photo and all.

corgi is dead its now gas safe

nic eic is electrical

Its likely to one of two possible faults.

We would charge £106/£116 in our local area.

That sounds rather high to me.

CORGI registered means nothing, they have been kicked out of the gasbusiness and are now a cross between the yellow pages and plumbersmechant.
Be very weary of people who tell you they are corgi registered; lots of cowboys use the logo to lull customers in a falls sense of security. The main criteria to be allowed to use the corgi logo is: have you paid them the money.
NIC means nothing for gas either.
The only one thing that counts is: can he show you a GasSafeRegister card with his photo on it? If not, send him walking.
