I've just inherited a circular saw. I've never used one before, but I know enough to know that it will need a new blade. But which one? There's loads! It looks like a 6 inch blade to me, but what do I know.
I'd be using it for occasional DIY woodwork, clean cuts in pine, ply, MDF, up to 40mm say. (Is that a bridge too far? 30mm?) Can anyone recommend? One from Screwfix would be ideal since there's a store at the end of my road.

If you want a nice clean cut, then go for more tooth per inch. example.. 24 tooth will rip the timber and are only good for ruff cuts in sawn timbers.
if you want a really clean cut in MDF, Melamine, worktops, with a good finish then go for a 48 tooth blade.

That looks something llike a 6in/150mm blade (and as a B&D will probably have a 6mm or 5/8in bore). Make sure that you take it out and measure it correctly. I use 16 or 20 tooth hooked blades for ripping on a 165mm cordless saw - more than that and the gullets clog - but for MDF and MFC (Contiboard, etc) I swap to a 40 tooth blade for a finer cut
