Into my second day of 7 days of Amoxicillin.

Perhaps I'm being impatient, but the only change I have noticed is that my cough is worse!

I cannot sleep in bed and can only manage to sleep in my armchair for short periods, before waking up coughing.

I've been given 21 tablets of 500mg of Amoxicillin each. So, 1.5g of antibiotics daily.

Since August '23 I've had 5 lots of antibiotics, 2 lots of steroid tablets and over a hour on a nebulizer to try and sort out the hanging on cough from the last bout of CV19.

How did your discussion go about the water works?

My PSA level whilst quiet low (under 6) has doubled in a short timespan - under 18months. The medical centre I'm under are very proactive and he discussed the rise with me, along with unrination and any unrination problems.
He did a digital examination and then put me forward for the span and treatment if necessary.

So I have a hard spot on the Prostrate which has now been sampled. Just have to wait on the results.

I'd sooner get this out of the way than wait until it worse. A neighbour has had his prostrate sorted but had delayed it a considerable time before getting it resolved. He now has incontinence issues.

Told I'm over weight / BMI - but they weighed me fully dressed with shoes on. I have to have a skeleton assessment and then my case will be reviewed by the regional specialists to if the solution is pills and radiation or cut it out.

What is a skeleton assessment?

My cough is miles better, thank you, but I still cough occasionally and my chest feels a little tight.The GP said this would happen and said it should continue to improve in the following weeks.

I do seem to suffer a cough in the colder months which improves and eventually disappears in the warmer months.

As for my prostate and peeing, things seem to have settled down quite a bit. Last time the GP asked me to do a pee sample, it tested as containing blood. So they asked me to submit another 4 weeks later.

That was a few days ago, so I'm going to ring for the results tomorrow. The urgency seems to have subsided and I appear to be able to go longer between visits. I still get up in the night, but only once instead of multiple times.

The GP has said he will keep his eye on it and I need to report any changes.

We've been SDS drilling through three walls, to get new circuits through, ready for my upcoming consumer unit swap, at the weekend. One hole went a bit wrong, it that the brick behind the plaster was loose, so that blew out. It's going to take some making good

Had a blood test this morning as part of my GP annual check up. She stuck the needle in and it was barely dribbling out into the container. She decided to give it a bit more of a shove and managed to hit the vein this time and it fair flooded the container and the next one very quickly indeed! "Oops, sorry about that" she said.

I have to have three, during the course of three weeks, one for the hospital consultant, then despite they (surgery) were supposed to have included diabetic test at the same time - they forgot, so I had to have another this week, then another next week for the consultant. It seems the more painful the needle is going in, the worse the bruising it causes.

This was for my annual health check by my GP. I have another in 2 weeks time for the consultant at the hospital with regards to the watchful waiting on my prostate. I rarely bruise after a blood test and it just looks like the tiniest of puncture marks, unlike Mrs Mottie who ends up with 4” bruise on her inner elbow for a week.

Staying at a farm site near Garstang, went for a bike ride round the lanes, headed down a dead end passing various farms & cottages, rounded a bend and the lane finished at some huge gates with the letters W H worked into them, huge house & grounds, cameras everywhere, I reckon some gangster gaff, turned around and made my escape before the hounds were released

Came off the A20 toll rd near Cahors. Went to unmanned toll booth, put my credit card in slot and the fecker swallowed it. Hit the panic button as there were two cars behind this flustered Englishman by now. Woman spoke a but of English and claimed my card was retained because it's blacklisted. Load of balls as had been using it fine since arrival, well under credit limit and previous balance cleared. Had to fish out some Francs or whatever they are and feed them in. Phoned Halifax re credit card (was using this one as no/low foreign transaction charges) and couldn't see a problem with card. Anyway, cancelled it and sending new one. No good to me now as it will go to my home address.

Upside is, it was raining and cold when arrived Tues morning, but since yesterday got quite warm and dry. Near Fumel/Cahors and 20 degrees today. Been sitting out last 2 days outside cafes and bars in the sun. Spring sprungs early here.

When I used to go abroad on the bike as well as last year when we went by car, I always used my pre-pay Monzo for the tolls. Mrs Mottie has one too in case anything goes wrong. If you are going to be using them regularly especially at busy times, why not get something like THIS. My mate who goes regularly has something similar and after my last car trip, he said that next time I go I can borrow his and pay him back when I get home.

Wish I had this nugget of info before I went. Have used cards for tolls on two previous trips plus this trip up until yesterday without any problem. Will keep cash handy from now on. Scoundrels!

My mate who goes regularly has something similar and after my last car trip, he said that next time I go I can borrow his and pay him back when I get home.

Thanks for the info, I need to sort out something more reliable so I don't lose a card again. Only thing with your link, I'm seeing the words "dedicated app". Guessing I would need a smart phone for this. If the Monzo is more old school, maybe that would be better. How does it work?
