What kind of plug does this take?

16amp blue (240v) cee form type.

SFix would have some.

Get one, and a meter or so of 1.5mm flex, and a trailing single extension socket.

That's step 3.

Step 1 is to prove that there is a functioning earth.

Step 2 is to provide or prove the existence of a functioning RCD.

the previous occupants may have had a caravan.

that unit appears to have an RCD behind the smoked window, that is quite common. For a start, press the "T" or "Test" button and see if it clicks off.

It appears to be fed with grey PVC T&E; this is incorrect for outdoor use and suggests a poor-quality installation.

Maybe my eyes but it looks to me more like a 32A version, is there any markings on the flap of the blue socket?
Alternatively can you give an indication of physical size of the socket - don't go poking about inside it! What markings are on the MCB and the RCD?

It is likely to be a 16 amp ceeform. The unit looks like a standard caravan hookup.
