I am bricking up an old door and would like to know what mix I should use. The motor is a lime render. It's been suggested I use x3 plastering sand, x1 sharpe, x1 white rugby cement and x1 lime.

I'm about concerned about using the cement, if I use hydraulic lime can I do away with the cement.

Please could an expert advise on what mix and ratio is needed?

Normally we use 3/1 sand/3.5 NHL. The sand a mix of 50/50 sharp/building sand.
In the mixer 20 mins, left for 20 to fatten up, then 2 mins in the mixer again.

Thanks Stuart. Can I just mix this in a wheelbarrow as don't have mixer. I could mix in Barrow, leave 20 mins, then mix again and then use.

Would that be ok?
