what morter mix?

I'm putting in some concrete slabs to support the joists for a section of decking.

I intend to concrete the slabs down to secure them and also i have loads of sand and cement left over from a previous project.

What would be the best mix to use, i was thinking 3:1? But then again, does it really matter?

Yeh that will do, and no it doesn't really matter, but if you've got stuff to use up then won't hurt.
