What's this?

A peach or nectarine. The flesh and skin have decomposed but the skeleton of the skin remains, as does the stone.

Is that it? If so, what do I win?

delmel,

I reckon if we combine our answers then we'll have the correct answer.

What I said, but not a peach - it's a cherry, like you say. I don't reckon it's an x-ray though - the stone doesn't appear central enough.

I don't know what it is - I found it and I've never seen one before. I like it. The thing inside is a drying-up berry, hawthorn maybe, but I don't actually know.

Any more ideas?

One of these .. inverted.

its a seed case from a tree, i have forgotten the name, the outer leaf decays leaving just the vains.

i found one like that before, it was absolutely perfect. not sure what tree it came from, but when you get leaves like that we used to call them skeleton leaves, but it is amazing to see the 3d version as you have.

Hi,

It's one of those 'doobrey what-j'm'callit' things ! , not uncommon, as they grow on trees.

it`s one of Sid James` "special fruits" that he showed to Babs Windsor..........she caught him out that time ;)  carry on wondering
