Wheezy boiler

I have a fairly old back boiler that over the last few days has developed an intermittant 'wheezy' noise that comes from the boiler.

Is it just a case that I should get the boiler serviced or is there chemicals etc that I should be running through the F & E tank?

Any help much appreciated.
