Which Laminate flooring ? and How to go about installation ?

At the moment is existing flooring removed. Did some pipe works under the floor. So few boards near the radiators are up across all rooms. few other boards are slightly up. But planning to replace them as well to ensure flat.
Existing boards on the floor, looks good - flat mostly. Boards cut and removed for plumbing will be fitted again.
Will be doing a laminate flooring soon. How do i go about laminates ?
Have had multiple people come in and give a quotes.

1 has said, floor looks good. So can directly do underlay and then laminates.
Someone else said, do plywood and then do laminates to ensure longivity (I dont prefer this as some water pipes are all running so close to the bottom of the floor boards).
Someone said they only do quick step and wont do wickes laminates or the one's sold in selco.
Need some advise on how to go about ? Would like to have a stable platform and longivity. May go for 12mm lifestyle floors and 5 mm underlay that one of the installer suggested. Quick step are well over the budget.

All the advice given to you so far is pretty solid.

If all the floorboards can be repaired/replaced to as level as what you have at the moment then ply would not be essential.

The advice on the DIY stores products is sensible, ultimately quality wise you will get what you pay for on the product and some companies/fitters won't want to put their name to a product that they feel won't perform to the clients expectations.

Ok... Is damp proof membrane really required ? If we use polythene dmp membrane before laying underlay, then what if all dampness and moisture get trapped and sealed below floor boards and cause boards to damage / rott getting moulds in the long run ?

you don't need a DPM over those floorboards.
