Which sander to buy?

Hi Guys,

I need to sand wals in one room, can you recommend which sander should I buy? I need something that will do the job and will not be too expensive.

Will somethig like "Black & Decker KA300" do the job?

Also, do I need to buy special sanding sheets? Or can I just buy standard sanding paper roll and cut it to size?

Black and decker are absolute rubbish.
I've yet to come across a room that needed mechanical sanding but try and get one that has a vacuum attachment to help contain the dust. Cheap wickes ones are usually ok.

Erbauer 1/4 sheet are excellent.

I have had no complaints with the Makita Orbital I own; I heavily echo dcdec's recommendation of a vac. I tape a Wickes wet and dry to mine, and it really turns a horribly messy job into a practical delight.

I buy the aluminium oxide rolls and use the single sheet that comes with the sander as a template. I can normally knock up about 40 while the missus watches Eastenders.
