Whirlpool ADP4501/5

My Dishwasher has suddenly stopped working... and flashes 4 times on each mode. Ive searched through the forum for the problem and have narrowed it down to a drainage problem. Ive tipped it up and water came out (had towles ready), Ive cleaned the filter and the black mesh as best i can... i poured warm water in (whilst door open and a wedge in the latch hole, to trick the machine into thinking the door is closed) and physicaly saw the water being pumped out so i know its not a pump fault... any other ideas? ive tried resetting the the machine with no luck and im beggining to think its a more seriouse fault that may cost me a little money to sort out.

It gets as far as the initial pump cycle and then begins to flash again

Any more insight would be appreciated.

4 flashes is a drainage problem.
As you've cleaned the black mesh I can only assume that the pressure switch may be faulty.
(Hard to give a definite answer without actually being at the machine).
Other thing to check is the drain hose, if it's into a stand pipe ensure that it's not syphoning. (ie, not too low or too far down the stand pipe).
