My whirlpool machine door is not opening. I am sure that water has completely drained out after washing as I left machine overnight. However the Open/Close Door button has gone a little inside & door would just not open now. Any ideas how to resolve?

This happens all the time on Whirlpool washers and dryers. If you press the buttons too hard the plastic locating lugs on the panel card get broken off & the button disappears inside...then when you try to press the button again it doesn't activate. Often it can be fixed by taking off the control panel, re-seating the card & securing it with a few drops of araldite rapid (or similar) where the lugs are broken. If you are unlucky the button arm gets broke & that's a bit worse. You'll have to take off the control panel & take a peek inside to see what's happened. Remember to pull the plug first
