Whirlpool Dishwasher drain problem?

Hi All,

Have a whirlpool dishwasher - three years old. Recently after starting a cycle, pump comes on for 10 seconds, then stops and starts cycling on and off every second. The light goes out and back on again each time the pump comes on. Have left it like this for up to an hour and on - off cycle remains. Have tried resetting by keeping start button pressed for ten seconds. Black filter is clean. Any idea's. There are no warning flashes as light flashes on and off ith the pump.

No model or serial number but it sounds like your machine may be fitted with an Askol wash pump which has gone faulty.
Other possibility is a flooded base.
