whirlpool wm smoking

Hi,

My whirlpool washing machine started smoking from within the drum today.

Basically the symptoms leading upto it were, noisy on spin (bearing?)
Squeel when cycle first starts (tub/drum seal?)
And now smoke (motor?)

Its a few years old now, my Question is can a bearing smoke? The smoke was coming thru the drum not sure if its motor or bearing.
If its seals and bearing i may repair it.

Does anyone know roughly what the price of those parts are?
