Why do registered fitters bother to jump through hoops to be legal and then not do their work properly.
Just come back from a ballvalve swop, first thing I see in the loft is a bright shiny flexible flue liner snaking from the ceiling up to the ridge tile and bodged together, lady even has a full reciept for all the work from 2001, I know who they are and have heard complaints about them before, I told her to contact them and make them come back and fix it for free, she wont have them back in the house apparently as she wasn't happy with other things, she says she wont have the flue rectified so I aint going back to service the boiler and fire, some other mug can do all the paperwork, I was there in a plumbing capacity not a gas capacity so if she aint interested then neither am I.

Some people are too frighten to complain specially if the lady live on her own. Would the lady have the flue rectified if you did it for her?

Didn't ask as it would look like I was trying to get work from an old lady on her own.
I said at 85 she should ask the council or BG if she is eligable for a free gas appliance safety check and to point them in the direction of the loft, I asked her to let me know how she gets on as I would be interested to know.

they do it ped cos they are lazy gits
our council spent 6 mths changing exposed liners on hot air units

The last lady customer who had problems with them was in tears, 2 men plus another 2 "occasionally" took over 3 weeks to fit 10 rads and a combi, they left her with no heat and no water, floorboards left up overnight, used every cup and teabag up ect ect, they pinched the job off me after I had spent about 6 hours quoting by agreeing to dispose of the storage heaters for free, they didn't use a skip as I had quoted for but took them away in a van, pretty obvious where they ended up, she said she regretted not having me do the job after I had been recommended by a family member, serves her right in my veiw but does not excuse poor workmanship ect

do your duty and report them seeing as u know them contact them for her
