Wickes combi HE 24 burned fan assembly pcb

Hi, we recently had a lockout on the boiler (wish I'd read this forum before I bought a Halstead!) and it was finally identified as a fault on the fan assembly. Parts of the fan pcb were burned although the motor was in perfect condition. The entire fan assembly has been replaced at great cost. I am now nervous this could happen again. please can someone advise what could have caused this.

Without being there to check the boiler over, we cannot begin to say.

It could have just been a faulty fan and you get no more problems.

How old is it? Was it not under warranty?

Nope, just ran out... typical! hope it was just a faulty fan. Everything else was tested and appeared to be ok. Just wondered what could have caused the problem as the boiler was working fine until it locked out due to this.
