Wickes shower pump 410036 keeps stopping and starting

Hi,

Moved to a property. Shower pump keeps stopping and starting (off for a second then back on). Intermittant.

Its a Wickes 410036 - 2 Bar Twin Impellor Pump.

Any ideas? Is there anything fixable or worth a try? Looks like ~£250 to replace it.

Any help greatly appreciated.

If you are competent with a meter you can see if the flow switch is consistently making when there is a flow.

Apart from that you are into the repair of motors! Could also be a failing o/h stat.

Hi again,

Just done a few checks on the problem. The pump seems to feed both the bath and the shower. When I run the bath it works smoothly (no intermittant pauses or stutters). It is only when I run the shower that it seems to have a problem.

Does this give any further clue to what might be wrong?

Or if not competent the run a basin cold tap at a slow rate when you shower!

It's sucking in air, which is confusing the switch.
