I've just bought a 1.5kw panel heater. I want to test it before hard wiring as it means moving a lot of stuff around. Can I run it for an hour or two thru a 13a plug? The instructions say don't do it but I can't see what the problem is.

You can.

If it's a wall mounting one it might have to be fixed upright to something temporarily to stop it overheating etc.

I'm happy to fix it to the wall properly But I don't want to wire it into the fused socket until I've given it a run. That sounds ok? Thanks

Yet another example of manufacturers or their marketing people who don't know what they are talking about.

Yes as owain says, be carefull, some have to be off the floor 150 mm or more, or you may burn your flooring

regarding the plug, there possibly not wanting you to use it as a portable heater, which in the cold some would tend to do
