Hi all,
I am having trouble wiring a new pond pump to a new outdoor 1 gang switch. The old pump worked with the old switch.
Live and neutral wires coming from garden consumer unit to switch,
Is photo diagram.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Regards
Andy

Better this way

And even better to use a two pole switch and switch both Live and Neutral to allow full isolation to prevent a damaged / faulty pump from tripping the RCD and turning pff power and / or lights in the house.

Thanks, I thought that, I knew I bought the wrong switch. That's what threw me, pardon the pun.

Dear God.

What went through your head when you decided that not having a clue about how circuits and switches worked should not in any way be a reason for you not to fiddle?

How many times did you trip the breaker in the CU before you gave up?
