You don't need the CU. You could wire the sockets in 6mm and use a FCU for the lighting.
If you install the CU i would use a 20a for the sockets, wired in 2.5mm.

How many sockets are talking you about? Getting more than one 6mm cable into a socket terminal and/or an FCU might be tricky!

MK Logic Plus and Hager Sollysta will both take 2x6mm² (a Hager cooker switch will even take 1x16mm² in it's input terminals!)
