I have a 1930s semi and we are in the middle of changing the layout. While knocking the plaster off I have found that where we are wanting to place a door it appears one has been breeze blocked up and a 4 and a half by 3 inch wooden lintel is in place..

The wood looks good could I simply remove the breeze blocks and leave it how it once was????????

Please help I was going to do it but felt this was to easy and so seek advice

Wooden lintels have been used for hundreds of years and some have lasted that long too. If the wood is sound and not deflected or rotten I'd happily leave it there, no point making work and expense for yourself.
