Just asking for advice really...is this a coincidence or ?
So a (gas safe reg) plumber installed a new hw cylinder attached to a 6 yr old worcester bosch greenstar 30cdi boiler. Just a slightly bigger vented tank.
Day after boiler develops a fault...a U9. First on CH only, then on HW. Now both!
Plumber isn't a Worcester Bosch specialist (mainly works on another make).
He (and I) have looked up the fault.
System is overheating - seems pump isn't working ...system has been vented -doesn't seem to be an airlock, pump is getting power but not running. Plumber isn't sure if it is a faulty pump or a pcb board problem...is looking into it.
So it it just a coincidence -pumps dies the day after the new tank? Is that likely on a boiler this old?
Anything else it could be on Worcester Bosch? (I'm thinking some sensor or something not turning it on)
(I'm asking on behalf of the boiler owner - the plumber is kind of a friend of a friend - it wasn't exactly mates rates but was a reasonable price ...they don't want him to lose money on the job, he isn't deliberately ripping them off or anything ... is usually good at his job!
Boiler owner has British Gas Homecare thing with a £99 call out...which might be the cheapest way forward - unless they can wriggle out of it in the circumstances...
