it's new year's day and the boiler's playing up - whenever i try for either hot water or CH, the (combi) boiler makes a very loud rattling noise and kind of sounds like there's water inside it the reset button has flashed red after a while until i reset it...pressure gauge holding at 2...i have switched it off for now....is this just because of the frost?

There could be several faults all depending on what this "rattling" sounds like.

The usual cause of a "Rattling" is a mechanically faulty fan.

But you also say the boiler sounds like there is water inside it whatever that is meant to mean.

The only suggestion I can make is that you locate the auto air vent and see if the cap is slightly loose.

The fan, if its faulty, should be changed by a competent CORGI !
