Hi, I have some Sharp Sand and some Cement that need using up. Is there any reason why I shouldn't use a mix of these two for bricklaying type jobs on, for example a rough garden wall, where normally Building Sand would be more appropriate ? Would a ratio of 3 Sand to 1 Cement still be correct ?

Thanks.

None at all.

But buy an extra bag of sand as most of it will slide off the trowel onto the ground.

I'm not sure I agree with the concept of 'needing to be used up'. Better off throwing it away and spending the afternoon relaxing on the patio
