Yorkpart Microstar Combination Boiler won't ignite

If the fan has started then my expectation is that the ignition sequence has commenced and there is a fault associated with that.

But we are not permitted to give DIY advice here on gas/combustion issues.

So the best advice is to get a competent boiler engineer to look at it.

I don't think this will be a thermostat fault.

Incidentally, I think this is a YorkPark, not the name you have given. Most of the gas ones were rebadged Geminox. YorkPark went under years ago.

He wasn't necessarily a conman, he just diagnosed the fault incorrectly. There isn't much joy working on 'hobby' projects for customers. Parts aren't easy to get for these units, very easy to end up with unproductive time. Which is no doubt what the 'so called Corgi' thought when you told him to come back 'and sort out' your obsolete basket case for nothing.

A boiler service isn't a guarantee of no further faults for a year, its just routine (and I mean routine, as in manufacturer schedule) maintenance.

Genuine, Bonafide, Conman. All your words, only one refers to the tradesman. I'll draw my own conclusions.
