My washing machine door has just begun to refuse to lock. It simply clicks as though locking but the plate doesn't move on the outside of the lock. It then clicks again as though to unlock itself but again no visible movement.
I've recently been doing some kitchen renovations so wonder if a knock or moving the machine about may have caused this or if these locking mechanisms do simply die ? Just coincidence ?
I've removed the top pf the machine and removed the solenoid (?) locking mechanism. It seems to be getting very warm to touch after just a few attempts at locking the door. Does this mean it has indeed failed? The metal plate doesn't move across the unit as it should but the solenoid inside does.
Just want to make sure I am not wasting my money before I buy a replacement: found here
