Has anyone cut sleepers, down there length, if so any tips appreciated.
I have cut across the width on a few, I have a chain saw.

It can be done with your chain saw, but cut a guide groove first!
It may pay to use a new chain though - if your old one isn't perfectly sharpened the saw may wander off track......not so important across the grain!
John :)

be very careful as cross cuts you have to be unlucky to hit something like an old nail but on a cut along the length you will definately hit it if there is anything in there.

Personally i have done it with a circular saw before from both sides. Thats much easier if you have a big enough one.

r896neo...don't have circular saw unfortunately, Yes I will give the sleeper a look for embed stones/nails etc.

Thanks for advice from you both.

Just cut one, I found it hard to stay to the line, I cut from both ends then had to join the cut. Just as well it was only for a flower bed edging.
