Hello;

We have a Vaillant proTECH boiler which has just very recently come up with the word "Con" flashing. We have tried the same thing in which we do when we get the F.45 error code.

Could somebody please inform us as to what "Con" means and how to overcome the issue.

Thanks

Think your looking at new pcb.
one of the bunnymen will be along to give more details

CON means there is no communication between the PCB and display this may be due to the display being lose or a problem with either the PCB or display. On the PCB top left hand side there is a multi plug X20, on the bottom left hand corner of that plug is a soldered ring marked up as 5V, check whether there is 5v DC between 5V and earth if there is the PCB is OK the display is faulty, if there isn’t the PCB is faulty.

Or contact a Gas Safe Registered Engineer to remove the case, expose the electrical wiring and confirm what is needed.

I have already posted similar responses to other users' queries but I will post here as well as this could save people a reasonable sum.

Simply resetting the boiler won't resolve this issue. Instead, try the following.

1. Power off the boiler by pressing the power button on the front panel.
2. Switch off the power at the fused spur (mains power switch).
3. Press the power button on the front of the boiler again but DO NOT switch the power back on at the spur (mains).
4. Wait some time ( e.g. 30m - 1h).
5. Switch the power back on at the spur (mains)

If done correctly, the boiler will power back on at step 5 and the CON error message should have cleared. If it doesn't work then repeat but wait longer at step 4

If you reply to questions raised less than ten years ago, there is more chance that your posts will be helpful.
