Hi,
i building a single story extension with a pitched roof over. i have on the plans a timber bearer attached to the wall with the rafters (birds mouthed both ends?) sitting on this and the wall plate. I assume i am to use expandable bolt fixings to attach the bearer to the wall, but what size and how far apart?

Also does the wall plate need bolting to the top of the wall?

And lastly what do i use to attach the ceiling joists to the rafters at the wall plate end, screws or nails?

Thanks
Ben

M8 or m10 bolts at 500mm centres for the bearer plate

You don't bolt the wallplate to the top of the wall, but you would use some 1.5m straps at max 2m centres to hold it down

You can nail the rafters

You plan drawer should have specified these
