I have just bought a new washing machine. The unhelpful engineer who installed it only said it needed "capping". He would not explain this. Can anyone advise what I need to actually do to cap this spare pipe.
I presume the new machine is 'cold' fill only so your hot water pipe is no longer needed. By 'capping', he means 'blanking off'.
You could take the valve off the 15mm copper pipe and put in its place a 'stop end' (compression fitting) Or you can buy 'blanking caps' from B & Q which have a rubber disc inside a recess and screw this on to the valve instead of the flexible pipe. This will prevent any leaks should anyone turn the hot valve on.
