I am trying to install a chrome dimmer switch, I have three wires, red, blue and yellow. The dimmer has three holes, one with a wavy line and an arrow through it, L1 and L2. Can someone please tell me which wire goes where!!! icon_surprised.gif

If you didn't bother to note down the wiring on the previous switch then we can only guess at how to wire in the new one with the information you have provided. Assuming this is part of a two-way circuit, yellow and blue are likely likely the strappers and go to L1 and L2 (doesn't matter which is which) with red to the 'wavy line with arrow through it', otherwise known as common.

As your new switch is (presumably) metal you will need to make sure it is earthed. If no earth is available at the switch then you'll have to fit something made from plastic.
