I have just purchased an electric oven with hobb. The manual recommends a 6mm2 sq cable which I presume to be flat t&e but I have heard that it may need to be heat resistant? Can anyone confirm this?

There is one connection box on the back of the cooker for both oven and hobb and will be wired to a cooker connection plate which is connected to a standard cooker switch.

The connection plate is on the wall directly behind the oven.

Unless the manual specifies which cable, I would take that to mean twin & earth.

But it would not hurt to ring the tech dept of the manufacturer.

Thanks very much, spoke to a few people and everyone seems to agree t&e will be fine. I have had wired up for a few days and after using it several times, the cable looks fine.
