Ok, so we're trying to wire a double socket in a kitchen.

One switch needs to switch on two main lights and the other 2 under cabinet lights. The old switch did this no problem but the new switch will only do any combination BUT what we need!

All the wires are red and it's very hard to distinguish which ones are which. We only know the live wires. Any help would be much appreciated.

Ok. A simple task.

But I thought you were wiring a double socket.

No?
FYI, this:

is a two gang switch (this description would have been on the box or wrapper it came in)

We need more info.

Where do the cores come from? Grey sheaths? What combinations are in each sheath or conduit? What direction do they run in? Did you make a note of what went where before you took the old one off? Perhaps you'll think twice next time you want to tear all your switches off the wall.

photo of the back of the switch, or the cables coming out of the wall will be of help to us..
