Our boiler is under 3 years old and making a high pitched whining noise after using hot water which carries on until hot water is run off again. Then tap turned off and noise starts again. Eventually, the noise does stop, but after perhaps half an hour or more. Maybe pump, or diverter valve at fault? Has anyone had similar experience? Moved in three weeks ago and it's driving us mad. Can't get hold of Sime, are they still operating? Can anyone help please?

Don't throw good money after bad. One of my customers has a sime of about the same age and had an engineer out once every other month on average. She has asked me to install a new boiler of a proper make when the cold has gone.

The fault on your boiler is probably due to swollen "O" rings in the diverter valve.
The most likly cause is the use of a particlar water treatment.
the problem can be resolved by the use of upgraded "blue" O rings.
Sime can be contacted on 08709911114
