Whirlpool not cleaning!! AD/4501/5

Hello, I have a whirlpool Ad/4501/5, it has been making a louder than normal noise for a while now but generally cleaning ok, but it has suddenly stopped cleaning anything.
We have checked and the water is going in and out, but seems that perhaps the water is not coming out of the spray arms, (although hard to know) but after a complete cycle everything is still dirty.
Anybody got any ideas, thannks very much

Check the spray arms are not clogged by debris. If they're clear then it is likely to be a faulty circulation pump...could be a bad capacitor, motor, or damaged pump impellor.

Ok we have just got out the pump and its covered in white stuff, possibly limescale or soap, any idea what it is, or why everything is covered in it ??

It's covered in scale around underside of the pump head? If so it has been leaking. You will should see marks on the bottom plate where the water dripped down.
