Hi,

just had a new combi fitted, what are the optium temp setting I should set for 1. the water heating, 2. the central heating.

The range is 25c to 80c

HW, stick your elbow in :) It might be 40C if that gives you the shower you want with no risk of a toddler scalding themselves, or it might be 70C if you like to top up a bath while you browse the Sunday Telegraph. A new combi probably won't go higher than about 70C. It all works equally well, although if you choose a high temperature, you might only get that temperature if you run the tap slowly.

CH, set it as low as possible to still give you the heating effect you desire. The boiler is more efficient with a lower temperature. That might be 40C with underfloor heating, 50C with normal radiators in summer or oversize radiators any time, or higher in winter. You can comfortably keep most homes warm all year with radiators set at 50C, but many people prefer them at 60C or 70C to give a faster warmup.
