Why inspect before quote?

There was a recent thread regarding why it's better to do a proper PIR before quoting for a job.

Asked to quote for a new CU and a few points around the house. Some time into it I found this in the attic behind the usual hoard of dusty goodies. The owner didn't know it was there (??).

Related to this, it is amazing the number of calls we get to high loop impedance on Friday afternoons as rewires are being tested.

Much better to check before you start that hope we will sort it out over the weekend.

Whilst we have no requirement to provide an earth to existing properties, in this part of the world we try to fit one. Maybe I should start refusing and dump the costs of providing the earthing on the electrical contractors!
