My extractor fan switch is broken. It's one of those that you pull the cord and it "clicks" on or off. Only when I pull it, it doesn't click any more.

What do I need to do to fix it?

Complete novice here... :p.

Ok, about turning off the power... that's the big red switch in the fuse box, isn't it? How should I know if the power is indeed switched off. Will it be on the same circuit as the lights?

Do you mean the pull switch is built into the fan, or is it a separate unit altogether on the ceiling?
