Be aware that MOST IEC cords are made with 0.75mm flex which afaict is rated at 6A in normal portable applications. From what I can tell the ratings stamped on the connectors at the ends are only for the connector in question not for the assembly as a whole. I would fit a 5A fuse to an IEC cord unless the flex was specifically marked as 1.0mm.shouldn't IEC320 power cords be fused with these?
As for the 10A cords with 1.0mm flex (which do exist but are relatively uncommon). I personally think a 10A IEC cordshould ideally be fitted with a 10A fuse but I don't think there is any actual requirement in any standard to do so and i've never see one come from a supplier like that.
If you need to put more than 5A though an IEC cord shop carefully.
