We are finishing a major home reno and are trying to decide on the finish for our stairs from the split level entry to upstairs and downstairs. We would really like to continue the tiles we have used for the entry on the stairs rather than switch to carpet or try to match the laminante we have already used. Any thoughts or suggestions on this?

that when we built our stairs, we made them 3 feet wide, three stringers and the tread is a 2x10 board.

Don't quite see the reason for the mods intervention on this can only assume its because your from Canada.
In my opinion stairs is stairs and the same would apply whether in UK or Canada.
Tiling on stairs can be done if they are wooden be sure to use a suitable adhesive, the main problem is finishing the nose of the stairs especially if your treads have a bullnose as you will have to find something other than tile to cover this. If you stairs are square nosed or cut back risers then you shouldn't really have too much problem, just try to use tiles with one glazed edge so they look purdy on the front face
