I\\\'m about to install a new shower in our bathroom. I have an electric shower (10.5kW) and a regular thermostatic mixer shower at my disposal. In terms of cost effectiveness, which is better to install? I\\\'m thnking that if i install the thermostatic, i will be using hot water from the hot water cylinder, heated from the conventional boiler (gas), but the electric shower obviously uses electricty to heat the water - so pint for pint, which is the cheaper option!!?
I\\\'m assuming that the pressure for the two will be roughly equal.

I would go with the electric shower ... Not for any reason that you have in mine but simply because if your boiler were to break down then at least you would be able to get a shower. Assuming you have a bath as well of course.

PS why do you keep on re-posting the topic? The Mod will smack your botty when he sees how many times you have done it!

I was thinking that too - i will fit the electric in the main bathroom as the backup, but i wanted this one to be in an en-suite bathroom, which will get used most often so i want the cheapest heating option and it looks as though its gas.
Great minds think alike...

As for the 400 times this post occurs - bit of a computer egit, i kept looking for it when i posted it and couldn't find it, so kept on posting, then i discovered that i was looking on slightly different screens hence the multiple posts - botty slaps in this case will probably be deserved.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.
