I like high counter surfaces, and I am tiling my kitchen floor which will add 3/4 inch to height, thus lowering my counters. Because I am using slate, which is relatively uneven, and I want my cupboards level and stable, I thought I would build a plywood platform underneath them instead of tiling underneath. Any comments?

put plywood under the counters, to the same thickness as the tiles. I'm sure you can make up 3 quarters of an inch using thicknesses available. May need 2 layers of different thickness. Screw to the original floor.

Thnaks, crafty. I think I will also bolt the cupboards to the wall so they don't fall off the platform!(they are currently floating).
